1. When I asked my dad what events he remembered from his childhood, he gave me two, monumental events that happened during his grade school and highschool years. His first was a memory of him being in his home room at kirkwood middle school and the whole class watching a small TV as the first man, neil armstrong, won the space race aginst the soviets and Stepped onto the moon.
2. his other memory of a significant even, was the day that the vietnam war ended during his early highschool/late middle school years, and he was relieved because he had at that point already been entered in the draft. or signed up for it.
3. The even my mom always says she vividly remembers was the space shuttle challenger explosion on liftoff in the 1980's while she was a student at mizzou, she says that she first couldn't believe her eyes and ears at the news coverage, and later, after finding out that one of the passangers was a teacher and mother, and not simply a brave endeavorer.
