The congo has been in a state of war for 15 years after the rwandan genocide involving the hutus and tootsies. This article is a summary of the events leading up to the state that the congo is in now, as well as a brief commentary on the recent U.N human rights report. The article states that the congo, being rich in natural resources, and humans has been foughtover and abused by various rebel or government militant groups since the days of king leopold. Rebels and corporations that gain control of the resources are exporting them and mining them with little benefit to the congolese people, and at the cost of what the U.N says are genocidally proportional death tolls.
